Dennis Erby

Dennis J. Erby retired from the MS Hwy Patrol in June of 2005 as a Lieutenant from Troop G Starkville, MS with 29.5 years of credible service. Marshal Erby has a Bachelor of Science Degree from MS State University, and is a member of the Golden Key Nation Honor Society. Additionally, he is a graduate of the National FBI Academy in Quantico, VA and has served in an executive capacity with several community based organizations.  In 2006 he was a guest lecturer at The Orrin G. Hatch Distinguished Trial Layers Lecture Series in Salt Lake City, Utah. Marshal Erby was appointed by President Barack Obama as The United States Marshal for the Northern District of MS in April of 2012.

As the US Marshal for the Northern District, Marshal Erby was responsible for operations in 37 counties, covering approximately   19,600 sq miles, including 15 operational Deputy United Stated Marshals, and a branch of the Gulf Coast Fugitive Regional Task Force which includes an additional 15 Officers to assist with Law enforcement issues not only in the District but the nation as well. 

Marshal Erby is an involved member of The United Christian Baptist Church in Columbus, MS where he serves as Chairman of the Deacon Ministry.

He has been married to Linder Cannon-Erby for 45 years and he makes a point to give God all the glory for allowing him to continue to serve the people of Mississippi.
